At Chess Kidding, we believe chess is more than a game — it's an adventure that lives at the intersection of art, sport, learning, and joy.
We’re on a mission to make chess accessible, social, and exciting for everyone — from absolute beginners to future champions. No matter your age or stage, we’ll meet you right where you are on your chess journey.
From playgroups to boardrooms, Chess Kidding brings the magic of chess to children, schools, and grown-ups alike.
Our Bootcamp for Beginners is a fun and interactive introduction to chess for children as young as 4 years old.
For children who already know how to play and want to grow, we offer private and group coaching to build skills and confidence — one smart move at a time.
We partner with schools to ignite a lifelong love of learning through chess — from pre-school right through to primary.
Our programmes nurture curiosity, build focus, and lay strong foundations for academic success — all while having fun.
Chess Sippin’ is our hallmark experience for adults — an unforgettable event that blends strategy, socialising, and a good dose of laughter.
The Chess Kidding Masterclass offers leaders and teams a unique way to build trust, think critically, and connect meaningfully through the greatest game of strategy game.
In chess, the pawn is the smallest, slowest, and least valued piece on the board. But if she journeys all the way to the other side — with courage, focus, and strategy — she is promoted.
She becomes a Queen.
This is not only one of the most remarkable rules in chess — it's also a powerful reminder that with perseverance and the right support, even the smallest and overlooked can rise to become the most powerful.
This is what Pawns to Queens is about: supporting young girls to move forward, one square at a time.
Chess Kidding was founded by sisters Seadimo and Tshepang Tlale — the first Black girls to represent South Africa internationally in chess.
For them, chess was always a family affair. Their mother taught Seadimo to play at age 3, and Seadimo passed it down to Tshepang when she was just 3 herself.
Today, with over 20 years of shared experience in competitive chess, coaching, and education, they’re sharing the magic of chess with the next generation — one move at a time.
Watch Tshepang’s inspiring journey — from toddler in Welkom to Woman International Master.
